My boy and I started on the rear driver's side Saturday morning. Took a bit of persuasion to get the old rotor loose. Jesus. LOL. We gotta put new shocks on and do the rotor and pads on passenger side this week when time and weather permit.

This thread brings back memories of "Tough Toys" when they were in Chattanooga. They did a lot of 4x4 van conversions.

I really wanted to do a 4wd van conversion, but the cost for the best reasonable aftermarket kit put me near $ 15K even with me doing all the work! I determined I could buy several Montero Limited 4wds and rehab them for a lot less money...so that's pretty much what I did!

Finished up after school today. My boy got the passenger rear rotor and pads on. We'll tackle the rear shocks another day. He has homework to do. And I have dinner to cook. Here's some pics from his van work today. That rotor inner side was worn way down. The associated pad was gone. Oddly I never felt anything wrong with braking. Sure glad we got the job done today.

@normaldave my boy was able to install new shocks on the rear of our van this morning. I used a Sawzall to cut through the top studs of the old shocks - way faster than wrenching on them. Then my boy took over and with the assistance of Frog Lube, zip ties, impact & breaker bar and sockets, a flex head ratcheting wrench, some cardboard, headlamps and goggles and a bit of taking Ford designer names in vain we got new shocks mounted up and test drive was alright.

Lol. He likes tinkerin away. I got him a toolbox as a baby and progressed through the years into real tools and jobs. Tinker toys, Legos, etc he likes all that.
