General ask, one of my honey holes was leveled last year, turkey #s were already struggling before the cut though, #s of birds cut 50% in one season it seemed, abrupt....its 900 acres of mature woods clearcut to nothing for a solar farm bid. Now, no solar farm coming im told, so here we are with a monoculture desert with some oak drains.
Neighboring tracts are 15ish yr old select cut pines and a 500 acre hardwood/pasture heaven.
So....Will the 1-3 years of this cutover yield good brood, better than previously? It was a ton of hardwoods cut so its got a lot of messy slash and zero predator edge or lane etc, shouldnt this lead to better nesting and poult hide?
Thoughts? Hopium?
