Let's talk "little bullets" for shooting deer...
I was raised on the .308 and .30-'06. Went thru my own "magnum" phase, with a 7RM, and .300 WSM. I have .44 mag and .444 rifles. .30-.30s too.
Most of the time, I am carrying some kind of .308 or '06 to the woods.
Lately I have developed an interest in "little" deer cartridges. It started with the .350 Legend I bought for the Grandboys.
There is zero doubt that the .350 is the real deal. My grandson is racking up the kills very nicely. I even killed one myself with "their" little Savage Axis .350.
Years ago, I shot a few deer and hogs with 7.62x39 Core Lokts, and Russian soft points, just to prove the hype at the time for myself.
Performance was fine, in my Ruger boat paddle M77.
I traded into a Remington Mod7 AAC Rifle, in the little .300 Blackout. I have not killed anything with it yet, but it's ready to go, with Barnes 120gr sumpin or others...
I am pretty sure they will work well too.
And now I just gotta have me a Howa Mini in 6.5 Grendel. It's on the way, and will be outfitted by me and The Grands for this coming deer season.
Gonna start that one off with Hornady 123gr SSTs.
I am really intrigued by these little rounds that punch above their weight, and do so with less noise, less blast, less recoil, and smaller rifles...
Was that BIG OL '06 on the right ever really necessary???
