LSU Fans Riding High this morning...

Glad to see my Woody's LSU fans riding high this morning. Heck, if I was in your place I would be too.

But let me tell you something, the dawgs have a lot to be happy about. Many articles I have read this week make statements like, ..."UGA maybe one of the hottest teams in the SEC right now...". "Many say UGA is lucky to be in the title game because of their schedule, I say, maybe the "Big 3" of the West are lucky they did not have to play UGA during regular season." One Alabama fan told me yesterday, "I can't pull for UGA because the West is the Best." That's funny to me, but adds to that confidence factor that I am sure the LSU kids have. They will throw their jock on the field tomorrow and UGA will roll over and bow to the kings of the west. :bounce: I hope thats exactly what they are thinking.

In 2005 on a different message board, LSU fans were riding just as high. D.J. Shockley was QB of UGA and a guy named Sean Bailey was one of his best recievers. Nobody gave the dawgs a chance. LSU was #3 and UGA was #13. LSU was favored over the dawgs by 12 points that year. Dawgs won by 20. I was sitting on the 40 yard line in the 300 section. My father in-law had given my wife and I tickets to the game as a Christmas present. I remember riding the Marta train into the Dome and saying to my wife, "If we are getting our doors blown off by the 3rd quarter I might want to leave." I had that much confidence, because I was on the "we are going to lose train." This year, we should lose. We have played great against the Auburns and Tech's of the world and we have played like a freshman football team against the Kentucky's and Vandy's of the world.

For whatever reason, under Mark Richt, his teams have had tendency at times to play up or to play down to the level of their competition. Not sure why that is, but if ever the dawgs were going to play up, this would need to be that Saturday.

I offer this to you:

4 keys to winning

1. Les Miles has a winning record against every team in the SEC. Except one. Guess who?

2. UGA's defense will be the best LSU has seen minus Alabama's.

3. If Aaron Murray is on tomorrow, UGA will make this closer than anyone thinks or maybe, just maybe, even win it. But he has to be on and he has to be able to hit his receivers deep and early.

4. Mike Bobo has to call the game of his life. Throwing more than running. Crowell to me is damaged goods. Sorta like a toy held together with super glue. It's just a matter of time before it breaks. Our back up RB's are just guys who run the ball and that stuff of running on 3rd and 10 like we did against Tech has to go out the window.

Nothing super special there. For that reason, UGA has to throw and throw often. Bennett, Charles, and Mitchell. We have to call their number and call it often if UGA is to win tomorrow.

I know it's a long shot and Vegas has us to lose by 13 and some casinos have us on a 14 point line. No chance I tell ya. No chance.

GO DAWGS!

Pretty good DDD. The O line has got to play out of their minds tomorrow. Play like their lives depend on it and just ell themselves, if there is nothing left of them by the end of the game, that's fine as long as they are 1 point ahead.

I don't know how much we will be able to use the tight end because Mingo is going to eat Bean's lunch on pass plays more than likely and we might have to keep a tight end there to help him out.

To your point about the TE.

I think, (and have heard) that we will work out of the shot gun a lot. Also heard that we are going to give them the " I " look a lot and both the FB and the RB will have to pass protect. Remember how we took the ball out of Joe Cox's hands in the GT game? We ran the ball like 10 times in a row on the first possession? I think you see a lot of the same on UGA's first possession except in the form of Aaron Murray.

They have also thrown in a lot of Aaron running the ball on 2nd and short situations.

They are going to have to be creative and I wouldn't depend on Crowell to help UGA one bit. If he does great. I am hoping that he uses the game to show his teammates and the fans that he is the real deal, but I don't know if I see that happening.

Bean scares me to death in this match up. I pray he gets it done and does not get Aaron killed.

Gotcha. That would make sense. If they do that with Aaron and he's on, and it works, LSU will be on their heals a little which will give us some breathing room. It can be done. But it will require flawless execution. I think we should be taking the nothing to lose approach. Don't overemphasize everything to where we play tight. That was part of what happened against Boise State.

I agree. He is frightening when run blocking. he will get after you. But he's so big that he's just not mobile enough in pass protection.

You got some good points there DDD.

But let me point out just a few things...

1.) You have Bobo calling your plays. - Advantage LSU

2.) Murray will be throwing into the best secondary in the nation. Moe Claiborne, Tharold Simon, Eric Reid, Brandon Taylor, and of course the Honey Badger will shut down the passing routes.

3.) While the secondary is shutting down the passing lanes, DE's Montgomery and Mingo will be feasting on Murray. Those two guys are big, fast, and nasty. They will get to him sooner or later.

All that being said, either team can win this game. Like I have said before, I hope it's a great game and not a blow-out.

Good luck to your Dawgs!

No doubt, you make a great point about that secondary.

Good luck to your guys. I only hope for a good close game. So many people at my office and friends of mine talking about us getting out doors blown off. I can save some face if we don't get blown up.

Here's to a close game!

For all the folks that call the game before it's played, I remind you that if you sport even a glimpse of significance with your projections, there would not be a reason to play about 90% of the games. Going by what teams have done in the past and the numbers that said teams post vs other teams has a small influence on this game. EVERYBODY feels it, even LSU albeit they won't admit it (Les not directing at you so much).

Now to go in a more realistic direction, UGA wins b/c I want them to and they will play better than LSpoop tomorrow.

PS. Les I will soo enjoy replacing yur avatar. Smells like.........victory!

Besides the points already made, our guys have got to protect the ball and make plays on special teams. LSU's numbers aren't a whole lot better than ours other than those two categories. Yes, I realize they have played a much tougher schedule.

See those purple LSU avatars that those two Bammers are sporting about 5-6 post up???

You better get used to it. Because you'll be seeing it every time you post for the next month or so. ::ke::bounce:

LSU has a guy named BARKEVIOUS and one named T-BOB. How in the world can the dawgs compete with that?

Advantage LSU.
