308 for me mainly cause I own one and shot it a lot. There are lots of good deer guns out there today, from 270 on up to the 30 cal.

My favorite are the 30's (308 in specific) but it seems my 260 is blessed with good luck. I've killed my best bucks with it - using the 120gr NBTs that I talk bad about, the 260 and the 120gr NBTs have accounted for 2 good bucks in 3 years.

I still think the 30's are more effective though.

When I did gun hunt, it had to be any .308 caliber round, there is to large of a range of bullets to have any caliber near it. 55 gr through 260 gr, 30-30, .308, 30-06 you pick. Mostly 30-30:)

My favorite is my old 7MM MAG. For Georgia deer, I load it with 140gr Sierra gamekings. If I need more punch, I load it with 160gr Sierras. I can even load it with 120's for Coyotes and such.

Right now I am in love with my 6.5/284 but I will be a .308 fan till the grave. I pretty much like all centerfire rifle cartridges!
Gotta agree with ya there. I love my 7/08, but that 260 of my daughters is one deer killing machine! :shoot:

I'd hate to have to pick between my Model 70 .270win or my Marlin .45-70.

I guess I'd have to say the .270 but the .45-70 sure does the job.

I'm glad I don't have to pick just one! :bounce:
